Modern Oregon originated in Clackamas County, leaving us a singular heritage of which to be proud. The Arts Alliance guards and builds upon that cultural legacy by supporting, developing and promoting access to all the arts in every county community.

Community pride and local identity are based on our unique cultural and arts heritage, and these enrich the lives of every County citizen every day. Arts and culture are what makes us special and have empowered the best of our human endeavors throughout the ages.

Here are a few examples of how the Arts Alliance collaborates with passionate volunteers to help make Clackamas County better. We:

• Bring support for music, art and theater to classrooms, essential for student success;

• Build access to public art throughout Clackamas County;

• Promote art festivals, farmers’ markets, concerts in our parks, and theater performances;

• Provide resources for libraries, schools, art commissions and Main Street programs;

• Aid juvenile offender rehabilitation through theater arts workshops;

• Present training in organizational skills and career support for artists and performers;

• Deliver Cultural Coalition grant support to local arts and cultural projects in every corner of our County – 107 and counting over the past seven years. (add new number reflecting eight years??)

The recession’s impact continues to affect nearly every Clackamas County family. But a healthy local arts industry creates jobs throughout the County, contributing to our economic vitality. As our population grows, the Alliance’s modest budget is straining to keep pace with the increased demand for services.
